I kinda like the way MMW build up to a groove-climax @ shows. It's slow, but when they hit the peak... IT'S ON! Everyone's movin.

Regarding weird shows:
I also saw them at High Sierra and they did a whole set of just "noise". I really don't think they played any real songs at all. Billy Martin was using a freakin' dog toy among other things. Wood was gettin' down on a solo by beating and smacking his upright all over the place - percussion on the URB?! They can do whatever they want and it's usually very interesting.

The exchange between Cory Belcher and myself was just an inside joke. What was written should have been too absurd to be taken for anything but a joke. Not only is Cory a good friend of mine he's also a client. Sorry for any confusion

My favorite MMW albums are:
-Combustication
-Uninvisible
-Shackman
-A Go Go (John Scofield)
-The Word (Medeski only)

All of their albums are pretty unique though. You never quite know what they will record next.

Chris Wood is a monster groove player and he's very creative. If you're looking for other albums with Chris Wood I believe he played on at least one, possibly both, of Stanton Moore's (Galactic drummer) solo projects.

whoah whoah whoah.......

what is going on here?????

IMO all of MMW's early albums blow away their new stuff. their shows have always been great though. shakman, friday afternoon, and it;s a jungle are much much musically and groovically better than their new stuff .

the tracks on some of these early albums are just amazing.....and fing original to say the least.

I just remembered Wood also played on Karl Denson's Dance Lesson number 2 - killer disc!

My favorite that I have heard is Friday Afternoon In the Universe. It has a very live feel to it. Shack Man is pretty cool but it has a more studio feel IMO.

Check out John Scofield's "A GoGo" it's what got me into MMW (they are the backing band)

Cool, I'll check it out.

I believe Denson also played on Stanton Moore's projects, along with Wood.
