Metallica never did anything that Metallica didn't want to do. Bob Rock is a great producer and a talented musician who made Metallica's albums listenable. And even if he wasn't, it's just silly to think that anyone could have bossed James and Lars around in those days.

I couldn't stand the sound "quality" of their albums, starting with the black album. Each to their own.
