Great from the other 3 members, but Lars' lack of dynamics absolutely kills it. It honestly sounds like the producers are taking his tracks for the softer parts and just turning the master volume down so he doesn't overpower the other tracks.

Opeth does a really nice cover of this.

I give it a 7..

Their Budgie covers were alright... but nowhere near Budgie, especially considering how "metal" they were pre-metal.

If I'm not mistaken... Budgie owned Breadfan, Metallica did a decent cover of it...

Sorry, I ****ing love Budgie, a big part of the reason I didn't really like Metallica's cover was the tonality. Budgie is one of those bands where the tone of everything is perfect to me: Bass/Drums/Guitar, that's a big part of the reason I don't listen to much modern music. Not that Metallica's version was poorly produced, or performed (a solid cover), but it just sounds wrong to me "metaled" up tone wise. I really don't like Metallica's tone on anything, truthfully.

They played Breadfan last night and it was absolutely brilliant!
One of the best live shows I ever been to.

They just need to release that new album now!

+1 That's exactly why I don't like Metallica as a cover band. Next thing is going to be somebody saying that Metallica was awesome playing that awful medley they did of Mercyful Fate's songs.

Time to go and put on my armor shield
