I can't wait to hear the new Megadeth album more than anything, idk I just didn't enjoy that at all. It's nice to see the guys are "allowing" Kirk to have solos again. That was cool.

Also, I couldn't help but notice that Robert Trujillo was upright everytime the camera was on him. Definitely an improvement. Too bad I couldn't hear bass or background vocals.
As long as I can hear something on the new album besides Lars's annoying snare ringing undampened, I'll give their next album an honest listen.

That new song seems like they are covering some obscure punk tune ...maybe something from The Queers or Screeching Weasle (Ramones ripoffs circa 1990 ish)
Maybe, Cliffs death was the real downfall of Metallica?
Now I'm all bummed

The whole thrash thing died and they went on to do a lot for '90s rock. Metallica was a favorite rock band of the '90s for me, but it's hard to think of them as the same band they were during 'And Justice For All...' and earlier.
Their new stuff might also have been recieved better if they did it under a different name, too, considering what the generally closed-minded metalhead fan was expecting from a Metallica album. |

I'm sure there will be a few decent songs on this upcoming album, but the rest will be lemons. (St Anger anyone?)
But I hope metallica proves me wrong. im a huge fan, i love them to death. if anything would make my year itd be a great metallica album

Moreso they really failed to use Jason Newsted to his full potential. Honestly, Newsted is a fantastic songwriter and bass player, as he has shown on Flotsam and Jetsam's, Doomsday for the Deciever. Quite possibly one of my all time favourite albums ever. Newsted wrote most of the whole album. If you haven't heard anything from it, definately check it out.
I find new Metallica extremely bland and lame. Some new records i'm really looking forward to are:
Megadeth - United Abominations (i think thats the title...)
Iced Earth
Iron Maiden - A Matter of Life and Death
Vader
I think Symphony X, Nevermore and Necrophagist are all coming out with new albums soon too.

Also, I really want to rock out to Metallica like I use to. When I was about 12, my cousin saw a Boyz to Men tape that I bought (my first attempt at buying some music, and not to knock those guys in any way) and he promptly snatched it up and replaced it with a copy of Ride the Lightning. Wow, I had no idea that music could make you feel like that. |

The Black album is a great rock album. Load and reload are really good but, IMO, could of been one AWESOME album. Garage, Inc had some really cool stuff on it also.
My point is that if Metallica still sounded Like Pre-Black Metallica, everyone would be saying stuff like:
"This album sounds like the last album. Can't they come up with anything different"
"Metallica has no talent. they rehash the same album every year"
"Metallica, Aerosmith and AC/DC should go on tour together."
Good Music is good music. Period. So far, I can't say the 2 new Metallica songs are good, though. I would like to hear the studio version, though. |

I personally know a lot of people that threw them in the trash. I personally have not been able to listen to the whole album all the way thtough and I haven't tried to listen to it in over a year.
They can make all the money they want. Them being rich won't make me like an, IMO, crappy album. |

I was left sorely disappointed. Metallica effectively eq'd him out of the mix. Definately check out Doomsday if you can. I never saw Metallica with Newsted, but Flotsam was a local band here in town and that dude rocked hard. |
