Metallica ...And Justice For All

Sign in to disble this ad
So, thanks to a FB post by an old bandmate (has it really been 15 years?!), I have now heard "Justice" WITH the bass.
Here's the story: Some guy took the tracks from Rock Band( or Guitar Hero?) Metallica, which are Jason's original lines. He then mixed them with the original album, mixed, remastered, and now presented to us with the bass tracks at an AUDIBLE level.
Now, FWIW, nothing is very special about the bass lines. In fact, they really do just dupe the guitar tracks (and with a pick). But to finally hear, after 20 years, this kick a$$ album with the low end present is just a beautiful thing.

LOL ster, Lars might get pissed. Well then maybe he and Flemming should just remaster the dam thing themselves LOL. Sorry, no link, but PM me your email, and I'll send them along shortly.

IIRC, this remix was originally spread under the title ...And Justice For Jason.

There is a user by the name of MetFan41 on youtube who did the same thing with Metallica's Guitar Hero. Bass only, check it out some time.

I'm probably the only one who doesn't really like the remixes. I feel that the bass is actually a bit too loud.

There are probably a few versions hangin around. The mp3's I have are balanced, I agree, the bass is really loud on the youtube clips.

I have heard the bass only tracks, pretty cool, esp Cliff's old tracks. Some of Cliff's tracks were amazingly lo-fi.

A member of these forums Lokire recorded his bass over the album a few years back, this version was much better than the guitar hero rips IMO.

Musically speaking, Justice is by far my favorite Metallica record. Would love to hear it mixed properly.

This sort of thing has been around awhile. Someone posted a while back. Would like to see metallica do an official remaster to address this. Love that album but the production grates.

Justice sounds better with the bass boosted. Musically speaking, it sounds like tons of bits were pieced together that didn't flow. It was their fourth best record. After the first three.

I would definitely like to hear this - as well as the Lokire version mentioned ! But as far as the authenticity...I`ve never played "Rock Band", so I`ve never heard the tracks. But I know that a few years ago, Hammett said in an interview that they didn`t know where /what happened to any of the masters before "Black". He said this in relation to the band being unhappy with the mix of "Justice" and the notion of one day remastering it. Beyond boosting the bass, were any mids brought up in the guitars / vocals - the album overall is waaaay too scooped. With a proper mix, it could be so much more than it is.

if you think the bass was too loud on those mixes you sure wont like mine. but here they are

http://savagedreams.com/danikkmixes/...-Blackened.mp3
http://savagedreams.com/danikkmixes/...ce_for_All.mp3
http://savagedreams.com/danikkmixes/...test_Straw.mp3
http://savagedreams.com/danikkmixes/...-Dyers_Eve.mp3

i actually put the original bass track straight in the middle and put another track of the bass just slightly to one side with the lows cut and some xtra grind on the top just to make it really nasty. the guitars are slightly to the other side to give it all room. but like i said, the bass is definitely not hard to hear on my mixes!
