method for syncing audio to video

Hey guys,

I'm wondering what method some of you use to record videos for youtube and the like. I'd like to be able to record audio direct into my interface and sync it up with video. I have the gear to get the audio quality that I want and I have an iphone, which has a decent vid cam (but not as good for audio). I have a macbook as well for editing purposes. I have just never ventured into these waters but I'd really like to record my self doing some stuff for self critique and maybe some youtube uploads. Any advice for how you go about it would be great! thanks!

If you have a MacBook, you should have a built in camera. And what you can do is open up QuickTime Player, do a new movie recording, and make sure your laptops mic is turned on (if you have the volume up it will be on), so then when you play your music you can hear it attached to the video, then go into your video editing program, and line up the waveform you recorded separately with the audio from the Mac microphone, then disable the audio from the mic. Simple.
