Michael Brecker - Pilgrimage

Wow, this recording is pretty amazing. Even if you don't consider the circumstances (Brecker was very ill and died just 4 days after the completeion of the cd), there is just some great writing and unbeliveable playing and soloing by everyone (Michael Brecker, Pat Metheny, John Patitucci, Jack DeJohnette, Herbie Hancock and Brad Meldau).

Brecker and Metheny particularly shine (considering what I thought was some lackluster playing by Metheny on his quartet record with Meldau recently, this is nice).

If your a fan of acoustic jazz and want to hear maybe the best recording by maybe the second most important tenor player ever, check it out.

Wow!
What a lineup!
i wish I could have seen Michael play (R.I.P.)
Randy Brecker played my school, and I met him and got his autograph. What a monster!

Great album, and a very fine last call from one of the true greats in music.....ever! Very inspired playing by everyone involved, and I really love Meldau's playing on it.

Fantastic recording, filled with brilliant writing, and highly charged emotional playing. Among the surprises here is the sound of the recording is remarkable. It sounds like a "band" instead of solo CD.

RIP Mike. Thanks for the years of inspiration you gave, and for the immense body of work you left behind.
