I was wondering if people could suggest some recordings.. Jonas Hellborg is already on my list but I was curious if there is anything else I should check out.. I'm looking for electric and upright stuff (I'll post this in the upright forum too)..

Thanks.

If you can handle weirdness, the Secret Chiefs 3 album Book of Horizons has many songs that would fit the bill.

If you liked Mr. Bungle, you will probably like them. But if you like Bungle, you probably already know about them.

The horns on song number 6 are amazing. I wish I could make music like that.

Mid-Eastern flavoured?

The Hasidic New Wave...maybe Kabalogy.
Each member of the HNW has solo discs out-
Fima Ephron(bass)-Soul Machine
David Fiucynski(guitar)-KiF
Aaron Alexander(drums)-Midrash Mish Mosh
Frank London(trumpet)-Scientist At Work
Greg Lloyd(sax)-Later Prophets

John Zorn's Masada bands...electric & acoustic.
A couple of good 'starter' discs would be-
Masada-Vol. 7 of Zorn's 50th Birthday Celebration
Electric Masada-Vol. 4 of Zorn's 50th Birthday Celebration

Check into the TZADIK Record label.
Good source is www.downtownmusicgallery.com
