Very cool - but I've never seen him (or heard him) playing fretted...

I saw him live a few years ago- IIRC he pulled out a fretted four for a tune or two

Some of my favorite work Manring has done was on fretted bass with Henry Kaiser & Wadada Leo Smith on the 'Yo Miles' albums. Killer grooves!
