There should be actual notation of it all around the internet or you could go out and buy a fakebook with all sorts of jazz tunes including So What

The melody is in G major scale over D- chord going half step up for the "bridge".

Just play G major scale and you will figure it out.

It does not use a G major scale. There is no F# in the simple melody and when walking you normally you use an F Natural rather than F#.

Correct. The scale is D dorian, which would be C major.

Bass Player mag published a transcription of the bass line a few months ago; you may be able to find it on their web site.

Yah. That's the esssential concept in modal jazz.

Take a look at the transcription, if you're fluent in notation. You can see Chambers clearly outlining the D dorian scale with some chromatic passing tones, but then in the modulation to Eb dorian he's hinting at Db major. Very cool, IMO.

This.

I had to learn it by ear for a class in college. Download Transcribe, isolate the bass, slow it down if you have to.
