My band recorded our first EP this summer and just wanted to get some input from you guys about what you thought....

I think that my parts could be better but I hadn't been playing long when these were written and Im not really happy with the tone I have on the songs but it's too late now...

Anyway, enough excuses, here's the link to our myspace....

I'm tryin to listen to teh instrumentation through the death scream... it sounds ok... but as an ex solider, death screams and trivializing killing are well, effing lame.... but I cant tell that's what he's singing about.

Instrumentation - realtively tight, syncopated, I like...

Death Screams - shall I cut his heart out and eat it?

really dig the music!!! your guys are tight!
don't like the yells... just me.
i have always felt that screams are kind of juvinial (even when i was younger). i like howls (cedric, maynord, zach, plant), or screams that are further back in the mix ala isis. i am old and lame though.
keep it up!

Musically, you guys kick ass!!

Lose the screaming! I just don't get it but I guess I'm not supposed to. You're young and I'm old!

Smile

Thanks for the replies...I'm glad to know that you guys enjoyed at least some of it...lol

I guess that's one good about living in a small town with nothing to do, gives us more time to practice and get tighter...

Also, I see what you guys mean about the screaming and I'm sure it chases away more people than it attracts but most of our influences are those types of bands so I guess to us it just fits better...

Anyway, thanks again, hoping some more people will join in...

My first thought was that musically it was like Iron Maiden - & then that singer started his screaming (hope that isn't you). Get a good, clear, powerful vocal in this and it could sell. All the guitar work is great - ass kicking. I just had a thought- you may not like this - a hot female singer may work great with this. It would definitely get more attention than with this screaming dude. good luck

have the guitarist back off on the gain, so many players in this style think they need (or do need as a crutch) this overdose of gain...its ********

have him back it off, it will make the tone punchier and the notes more clear, then you can start working on getting tighter rhythmically

also it will highlight the guitarists intonation mistakes....yes its there.. back off on the gain and you will hear it , he is not relaxted enough and is pulling chords out of intonation...classic

funny thing is once that happens, the guitarist will want to go even cleaner to be tighter and more percussive...listen to how clean and clear Black Sabbaths sound was...

its a pitty what cascading gain has done to the kids....

also the vocals? pointless, fine for stoner dudes with no girlfriends and minimum wage jobs, find a real singer

Thanks for being honest...

I know what you mean about the gain...When we recorded this we had two guitarists, both with the gain knobs maxed but since there's just one now, the better one thank god, it's been alot clearer lately and you're right about the clean parts being more percussive sounding but then again I think it was the other guitarist messing that up....

About the screams, I understand if it's not your thing but I like this style and I don't get high, smoke, or even drink...I also have a girlfriend so I feel a little insulted by that but I'm sure it wasn't meant personally...

BTW, I checked your myspace out, cool songs you got...I really enjoyed them...
