Minutian debut album (prog rock/metal)

Hi guys,

My band just released our first album, "Repercussions", last Friday. We played a gig at a Helsinki rock club to celebrate the release and were overwhelmed by the attendance and reception!

We play progressively inclined rock or metal - prog not necessarily in how many notes we can play in a bar or how difficult the songs are to play, but rather progressive in arrangements, time signatures and such. Pretty much the whole album was recorded on a MacBook using REAPER software, apart from the drum tracks which were recorded at Seawolf Studios.

The bass I used was my G&L Tribute L-2500 thru a MXR Bass D.I.+ and also a Bad Monkey, though the distorted signal wasn't used as the engineer added distortion during mixing.

The whole thing can be streamed at minutian.com. Have a go at it! On the site you can also find details on availability, including Spotify.

Hole sounds great! I'll listen to the rest of them when I have the time.

Thanks guys! Never heard of bandcamp, gonna look into it. I think we're pretty well set on download services though.

Sending out promo copies now, here's hoping for positive reviews.

Great production! Even through my iPhone speakers I could hear everything.
Do you use the MXR pedal for gigs also?

Thanks! I think it came out allright considering it's all DIY, apart from the mixing and mastering.

The MXR wasn't mine, live I have a few unnecessary pedals on my board going to my rig, with the BBE Opto Stomp always on and some effects for flavor. We kept it simple on the record - one of the reasons being that the bass tracks were recorded in a day. The guitars, on the other hand, took a few months...

Youtube - Minutian: Cold & Tight

A song from a December gig of ours. Not bad considering this was done as an experiment with four loaned cameras - of which the one in the hall was unusable due to vibration - with a bloke from another band nice enough to act as a cameraman for the handheld one.

The sound is mixed from two sources, one being the desk and the other a Zoom H4 with two Røde mics.

Very cool. Have to say I'm quite jealous, I've played with some excellent drummers over the years but that guy is amazing.
Not big into the prog/metal thing but you guys seem to lean more towards Riverside who I dig a lot.
Like it.

Cheers! Yeah, he's is great, I've known him since high school and played with him on and off since the late 90's. Oh, he's actually written all our songs so far as well.

Funny that you should mention Riverside, we got to open for them in November
