There seems to be a new movement, modern psychedelic. Of course, it's not new if it's based on an old genre. But this is my generic label for some of the bands I've seen/been digging lately:

Titan: http://www.myspace.com/titanaut
La Otracina: http://www.myspace.com/laotracina
Danava: http://www.myspace.com/danava
Acid Mothers Temple: http://www.myspace.com/acidmotherstemple
Bardo Pond: http://www.myspace.com/bardopond

Some of it is noisey, some of it more rock oriented, all of it really trippy and modern (or fairly modern) artists. I'd like to find more music like this.

Very odd stuff. Im more into the old psychedelic stuff (The Kings: The Doors )
Thoo, i hate the all electric psycadelic bands that take songs from The Doors and so called remix them. (I think destroy them)

Not sure if this band would fit in this thread, but I've been enjoying the hell out of Zombi lately. They're pretty cool. Imagine Moving Pictures era Rush without any guitar or vocals, and a lot more synths. I think I hear some Hawkwind influence in there, too. It's just two guys on drums and bass, and both of them do synth duties, too.

The Secret Machines' first album is actually a great example of modern Psychedelia.

Swan Lake and Frog Eyes are both groups awash in colorful sounds.

and there are more but my mind is going blank.

I think Zombi would count, I have "Cosmos" good call.

Secret Machines are pretty awesome as well. I'll look into Swan Lake and Frog Eyes.

Linkert: I guess psychedelic is a shady term, it implies many things. None of these bands have a Doors/Jefferson Airplane/etc type vibe. I'm just looking for more bands that push "trippy" as far as it can be pushed.

I love Titan. We were fortunate enough to play with them last year some time. They played for 40 minutes and their set was two tracks.

Yup, we played with them too at that show. It was Satanic Bat (you guys), King Bowman (us), Titan and then Saviours right?

It was our second show, we weren't that great, but everything else was awesome. Titan was definitely mind blowing.

Oh man, I completely forgot that it was that show! You're right. Titan just blew me away so much that everything else was just a blur.

LOL, Mr. Till knows about the Mars Volta...

If Zombi ever comes to your town, go see them! They are a very, very tight band. Cool guys too.

I think these guys count:

Cool band with cool songs.
