I like it. Yes, not as heavy as some of their stuff, but maybe more accessible. I am excited for the new album!

Unbelievably good band. Almost as exciting as waiting for the new Meshuggah album.

I like it, even if it is a little less KVLT.

Um.... uh..... well...... I really liked "Remission".

I always heard that if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

OK, just one more video, because it's funny as hell. The fact that Mastodon has a sense of humor just makes me love them that much more.

I'm loving any and everything I'm hearing from these guys.... I know alot of people think they have so called "Sold Out" because like the one guy said "I liked Remission" I think they keep getting better & better and if you don't like their new stuff... it's simple, just don't listen to it...... before you say anything I have been a Mastodon fan since day 1 when they 1st introduced the EP "Lifesblood" in 2001 a year before Remission...

^truth. I got on board at Crack the Skye because a friend introduced me to them then, but I do have all their albums. I love seeing them progress from their first EP up to now. this band is incredible! hopefully they come back to BHam for the new tour...

also, I don't see how Mastodon "sold out".....they're still unbelievably heavy with great arrangements.....the way they've always been. I love seeing how creative a band can get through their career. how different they can sound while still keeping "their" sound. honestly, I would just shoot myself if every single band made the same album time after time.....ugh.

Does anyone else find Black Tongue to be an incredibly simple and boring song? I expect much better from Mastodon.

^I don't.

in other news, look what I made! I made a version of Curl of the Burl from the stems they put out to highlight the vocals. I remixed it, and kept it pretty simple and stripped down. Mastodon has some insane depth to their songs!

Black Tongue is alright, but Curl of the Burl is freaking awesome. I'm stoked for the new album.

Mastodon Live? is it worth the money?

I was thinking about getting some tickets to see them, but I'm really picky about how artists sound live.. I found this version of them performing Dry Bone Valley, and I think it sounds really good-- do they really sound this good live? Mastodon: Dry Bone Valley - live from Brixton - YouTube

Thanks!

As an Atlanta native, and a big Mastodon fan, I definitely think their progression from super thrashy sludgy metal to more psychadelic, progressive and rock oriented metal is a great change for them. I think it show's even more that they haven't sold out. They are writing what they want to hear. They can't sell out, just because of the fact that they will never be "mainstream". You rarely ever hear them on the radio, especially in Atlanta. On a side note, I am incredibly excited to see them with Opeth and Ghost on May 12th!
