Most famous bass line of all time.

Ever wonder what the most played, most recognized bass line of all time is and who played it? I searched the web and found this, thought it was interesting.

I'd've thought under pressure via vanilla ice would be #1 most recognizable.

I'm a bass player and I think that list is BS. I can't picture most of the songs on there. I don't think Rancid's cover of Sham 69's "If the kids are united" should be on any popularity list.

I guess one person's blog is another person's log (as in poo).

I also thought Under Pressure would top the list.

If it's between AOBTD and Good Times, I think it should be AOBTD, even if it closely sounds like Good Times. I figured more people who recognize Queen than CHIC.

Granted, there a few I don't know...but "White Rabbit"?!? Do I really need to go re-visit that one?

For my money, if you're gonna have a Weather Report piece, "Birdland", IMO, would be more "recognized" (by the masses) over "Havona".

True... and I wish I had a nickel for each time I've heard someone attempt Alphonso Johnson's bass line on "Cucumber Slumber". He even repeated it himself on a Flora/Airto track.

IT might be helpful to list the top 25 (or something like that) for each decade.
Maybe starting with the 60's. Take a listen to "I Feel Good" by James Brown.

Fake slap, actually.... played by Jonathan Wolff on a keyboard.

Then again, the bass line on Birdland is largely Zawinul on keys.
