Actually, I have heard that rumour for awhile...I have never seen it confirmed. I have read 20+ books about the Beatles(including Geoff Emerick's); I would think if it were true, somebody woulda slipped up by now. If true, this secret has to be more guarded than Roswell.

It's one of my favorite albums of all time for so many reasons, not the least of which is Bernard's amazing performance.
The track "Love The One You're With" has a section (near the 3 minute mark) where the whole band and the vocalists combine to create what I can only describe as a "freight train of funk", with Billy Preston, Jerry Jemmott and Bernard Purdie (and the rest of that amazing band!) as the engine.
If I could time travel those concerts would be one of my first stops!

if you think about it, anyone who played on the steely dan records is pretty good, and its futile to argue who is the best. steely dan rules!!!!!! |

I can't possibly believe this, only for the fact that, when comparing the sound that both drummers have, there's no way I could mistake the two. I mean come on, "purdie shuffle"
confused with sloppy and stoned ringo? |

Thanks for the link, I have a guy who is a pro drummer and he comes close to this and wow its party time with the improv groove, but this guy is superb, you must have really enjoyed your session....good call

I've played on and off with Bernard over the years and we've always talked about doing something together and we finaly got around to doing it last year.Bernard is very solid and very versatile.Benard has ghosted on a lot of recordings(one reason was because of his perfect pocket and his feel.and his ability to take a bad Drum part that was done by another Drummer and replay it perfectly and the way it was intended). | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
