Mp3 of "beat up" '62 Jazz + Horror Story

I had the pleasure of recording a quicky, on the fly, yelling structure changes, 4 minute, no 2nd takes Recording with a "clinging to life" 1962 Fender Jazz Bass...

It's name is "Battleaxe"....not a speck of paint left on the front, very little on the back. The owner scratched all the paint off himself using a "Canadian Nickel" (yeah I'm freaked too!)...also he used to think it was "cool" to hit the Cymbals with the headstock...major gashes!!! (here's a tissue)

Something wrong with bridge pickup, only giving maybe 10% compared to the front (so OFF you go!)

Bridge was replaced, owner still has all original parts.

Recording Info: "Live off the floor"

The bass owner said, "I can give you 10 minutes...then I have to leave"

Bass...Neck pickup only, Medium Compression, very little EQing

GTR: Ibanez AF85 "JazzBox"

Keys: Cheezy Yamaha home keyboard was all that was available, so he made do.

Monitor Mix, "what we heard, is what you hear"

How do you like the tone?

I totally agree with you, had the bridge pup been working, it might have got the upper mids sound I like.

Funny, the owner didn't even know about the problem, is getting it fixed, and will let me use it again,,,stay tuned.
