So I'm getting married in May. The venue requires a few pieces of music to be played during the ceremony. We've chosen the two for the signing of the register, but we're having a bit of a hard time picking something to be played when my fiancee and her father walk down the aisle.
The problem is, we have lots of songs we both love but it will obviously need to be something appropriate for that part of the day. It can't be a hymn as it's a civil ceremony. I'd love a great rock or pop song, A wedding website suggests 'I Don't Want To Miss A Thing' by Aerosmith but that feels a little too obvious and overplayed (no offence if that's what you had ).
Any ideas?

True story: I once played a wedding gig where the first dance was the Ramones' I Wanna Be Sedated. |

Dignified, and you can fade anytime after the vocal verse, or cut a loop of the flute solo to make it longer. Always and Forever (Heatwave)
One of the best romantic R&B songs of all time. Love to Love (UFO Lights Out)
Long instrumental intro, nice changes. Pacabel's Canon in D minor (?)
Classic secular wedding piece, lots of versions available. The Wedding Song (Peter Yarrow)
Classic acoustic wedding piece. The Wedding Song (Smokey Robinson)
A different song from Yarrow's. Very nice and pretty. There's a LOT of Motown that would work, like... Best Thing That Ever Happend To Me (Gladys Night & the Pips) |

YOur bride and wife.. Man up and let dad pick it.. you'll win points with both and loose the obligation and potential discussion.. My dad picked the readings for our wedding -- meant a ton to him.
"Butterfly Kisses" Bob Carlile is one dads seem to get a kick out of...
"I Danced with Cinderella" is now in rotation

I had to do some instrumental arranging but I think it turned out well. |

It might be a little to churchy for you, but a good one.
For the recessional, we used "At Last" from Etta James. It's quick, but might be a good one for your processional, especially given the lyrics. |
