Hey everyone, I've starting picking up the bass and i was wondering if anyone can give me suggestions on any good bass albums out there i should pick up and why. thanks.

If you are still learning and not very skilled yet, I'd recommend U2. Adam Clayton is a master at the simple but perfect groove. If you can play like him, everything else will fall into place. Other essential players in the rock canon, IMHO, include Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello & the Attractions), Paul McCartney, and Mike Mills (REM).

Of course, there are literally hundreds of good bassists in dozens of styles...

Danny, Bruce Thomas was the bassist for Elvis Costello.

to the OP, listen to all the Stevie Wonder and Motown records you can get your hands on.

I add John Entwistle (the who) for melodic fills. You don't have to play his licks exactly, he just had a very special way of using the neck.
