(The following review comes as a dedicated metalhead)

I liked the song. The beginning was very strong, nice and heavy. However, the vocals just didn't fit the instrumentals, until the vocalist went into his harsher vocals. He should use that harshness for the entire recording. Well, except for the part where he goes "duh-uh-uh-uhhuhu-uuuunnnn", simply because that worked pretty well. I was getting a bit of RATM from the higher pitches and then the un-distorted bit at around 3:30. Besides that, it seemed pretty unique, with no obvious influences. The one issue I have with it is lyrical content. If this played on a metal station, you would be bashed as an emo band. Singing about your father is a relatively big no-no in metal. But, your choice, and if that's what worked and what was important, go for it.

Overall, really good song. I look forward to hearing some more.

Thanks, I am that band right now, I play all the instruments and do the singing. I'm not happy with my vocals and will probably re-record them when I can find someone else to do it.

The song is not realy about my father, who was not actualy a rigger, but about the ongoing cycle of people working the oil rigs here in northern Alberta. So many generations have spent their adult lives in the bush camps away from their families while their kids grow up without them and go on to do the same that it is now concidered normal. Social comentairy is more hardcore than whining about your dad but still not very metal in this case I admit. Thank you for taking the time to listen.

I agree that the heavier vocals are better, but the lyrics... hmm... I have to be honest, I don't like them.
Apart from that, great song, you've got a lot of talent there

EDIT - Just given it another listen, I really dig the slap bass bit. I'd put this on my ipod for sure.

Bass sounds fantastic especially the slap parts. Bass sounds like a jazz bass (Im probably wrong though).
I like most people prefer your harsher vocals.

No problem man. I love listening to people's stuff, simply because everyone has their own style. I didn't mean to bash your lyrics, if that's what it came off as. Could you put this up on SoundCloud so that I can download it?

Also, check out reddit.com/r/WeAreTheMusicMakers if you want some feedback. I occasionally post there (same username) and it's amazing. Everybody is a musician in some form.

The bass used is an LTD B-304, I usualy use GHS Boomers but I think a bunch of the songs were recorded using Lowriders. I do like the Jbass tone though so I probably have the LTD sounding very similar.

There is a download option on that page that sould work for my songs. If not let me know how to get my music on sound cloud.

And check out the other two songs I've got up there if you like, not hardcore but they've got balls and good basslines IMHO. If I ever get this album done as well as I want it I'll probably try to use "Noralta Blues" as a single.

And thanks for the criticism, I like to hear that since most of the people who actualy know me just tell me its great which leads me to wonder if they actualy mean it.
