Hey guys as the title suggests my band just put up a few recordings off of our first EP. I would really appreciate any opinions/ suggestions you guys can give!

The music is cool, but I can't stand the singer. You guys are definitely doing great for your age though.

Thanks for the comment. My singer and drummer came as a package so im not complaining I think that in time he will get better, he is actually only a sophomore in highschool at the moment, so in a few more years he should be sounding great. What was your favorite song?

good sound, singer could use some lessons....he sounds fine but he seems like he's sorta holding back or something. Like he's not pushing his diaphragm enough or something...anyways...

Bass sounds good to me, you keep timing well but your guitarist went off a few times. You guys sound original which is all that really matters in my books =)

Thanks for the comments. I am very glad that you think that we are original, we have this really bad, stale, emo/screamo/ pop punk scene around here, so we definitely are trying to mix things up, I'm trying my hardest to bring back the concept of a groove.

Music sounds great. Lose the singer. Seriously you must know someone who can actually sing. That guy sure can't it sounds like bad horror movie narration.

Singer needs to sing everything an octave higher to fit the music!

timing

You guys should work with a click, as a band you're a bit loose. The guitar players especially.

Keep up the good work.

Sounds good as a whole, timing is a bit "sketchy" in each song (I'm a stickler for timing). Singer sounds nervous when he sings.

Again Thanks for all the input. I know we might not have the best singer in the world, but its nearly impossible to find somebody thats really great and still in High school around here in Montana. Plus my singer and drummer are best friends so he's not likely to be leaving anytime soon. Yea, I have noticed some spots listening through in the recordings that sound a little off. This was the first we had recorded anything in a studio environment, and it was a bit weird playing each instrument separately (Where much tighter live). Also there is actually only one guitar player, and he double tracked everything in the studio. Keep the comments coming the more thorough, the better.

I think your singer has the basic stuff, he just needs more edge, but that will only come with time and experience. I liked your stuff overall, which is saying alot as I'm 51 and not much a rock fan. Song I liked the most was "Into the Unknown." Great opening riffs. You guys sound good. Keep at it.

I didn't mean to sound so harsh in my last post I was tired and cranky. I think if your singer took some lessons he could be pretty good. Right now he sounds like he could be singing in a Misfits cover band or some sort of horror/rockabilly band(which is not a bad thing). To me his style didn't fit the music you guys play. It's been said already but you guys do sound good, sometimes a little loose but good. The bands I was in at your age were not nearly as good.

The music is great! and the singer's not that bad...although some of the lyrics don't really seem to make much sense.
the singer has really good flow on Solstice
pretty good on Skies as well as String, although i expected more aggressive vocals for that beast of a song
seems like he should be singing during those verse parts of into the unknown...

bass...really good lines, into the unknown especially. and skies of a new day is probaby the best overall, as well as the simplest. sometimes simple is the best way to go and really makes the rest of the band shine.

guitar has some really cool riffs and solos. really impressive for a high school band, that's for sure.

drummer seems to have a good solid classic rock style. seems like a keeper.

have you guys ever thought of tuning down a step or half step? i would think it would help a lot with your singer's limited/lower vocal range.

here are some things you can work on

the goove of the parts is a bit tentative. Especially the guitar, the slow arpeggios are painful, they need to be owned and played with conviction
also the guitar notes that are bent need to be bent to intonnation

When the drummer plays fast his timing drifts, noticeable on the tom licks especially

the vocalists style could turn out to be a good clash of styles vs the aggressive guitar chording, but a vocal coach is a must, he needs to expand his range and have some musical purpose to the lines. His singing is pretty disconnected from the tonality of the music. Ear training vocal training and taking up an instrument is the way to go.

overall for your age its an ambitious effort, stay with it. ps great CD cover!

You need Robert Plant.

I like the Zep vibe on "String Machine" tho

What a complete load of b*******. Well that's what I always expect with posts like this but this stuff is actually quite good. The guitar work on Into the Unknown is fantastic. As has been said before you do need to tighten up a bit. If you are all school kids that is a first class effort. Keep up the good work.
