Talking My band Black Aurora's album is up on the net - lemme know what you think!

Hey everyone...

I'm pretty excited to say that my band Black Aurora's debut album that we've been working on for the last 6 months is finally coming out on February 27! So in anticipation of that, we've put up a few of our songs onto our myspace site for a few days as kind of an album preview.

Anyways, check out the tunes at http://www.myspace.com/blackauroraband. My personal favorite tune is "Pillars" but my favorite from the bass standpoint is "Hell On Earth".

Please check 'em out and let me know your opinions - we only have a few days to put the finishing touches on this thing before it has to be released.

Enjoy!

edit: the album's now fully done, so it's back up on our site.

Thanks I used my Ibanez Rick copy for all the tracks except "Letter", that one I used a Peavey Cirrus 6 for. The Ricky has a really agressive and dirty sound to it that I love. I also used a Boss GT-6B and Sansamp BDDI straight into the board.

As for the waiting list, lol we're making 1000 copies so no worries there... if you like our stuff, our website - www.blackauroraband.com - has all the purchasing info. All I know is that the album officially goes on sale on the 27th

Dang, that is some great metal right there. Rock on!

I like your bass tone a lot as well, cuts thru just enough.

I really dug Hell on Earth! I guess I'm old school, I like my metal with Cookie Monster away from the mic.

Dig the scene in Edmontown too. Some killer bands from there, especially Axis Of Advance and I dig Broken Nose too !! A close friend of mine is the producer for the Cassanova Playboys. Know any of those bands?

Best of luck with the CD ! If you play out west, send me a PM.
Thanks SMASH, I appreciate your input. The whole "prog-metal" label is a bit misleading, our band is more "melodic metal with prog influences"... but that's way too long of a label to throw around

I kinda agree about the vocals - on "Hell On Earth", I think they're getting to the stage of being a bit over-produced and I'm not a big fan of those chorus vocals, but I'm only 1/6 of the band so...

The only band there that I've heard of is Broken Nose, but I haven't really heard any of them. I'll look them up though.

We might roll around Western Canada this summer, so I'll let you know

Bump... the album is now all done and the songs are back up on MySpace. I'd appreciate any feedback, positive or otherwise

oh ya one more thing, we only have 4 of the 6 tunes up on our Myspace, the entire album is up on our TheSoundRadio page at www.thesoundradio.com/artist/blackaurora. I like the unmastered mix of "Pillars" much better though, which is the one up on MySpace. The mastered album version is noticeably less ballsy with a lot of cool bass stuff somehow taken out. The most shocking thing is that it was mastered by a bassist in another local band...

-some good stuff right there, I tend to agree with SMASH about the vocals. not a biggie though, they just seem a little seperate from the rest of the music.

Overall, very kickass, some damn fine basswork there.

edit - good work to the guitarist who started that Hell is Earth lead old school shred like as well. I love that ****.

The guitarist basically recruited everyone for the band, so the shredding was a big reason why I ended up joining Have you checked out our song "Aversion Pawn"? It's up on our TheSoundRadio... if you like shredding then I'm absolutely sure you'll love that one

Thanks for the listens guys!

Funny story: I sold a copy to my Engineering prof at school today, after she liked the online clips so much... this is pretty amusing because she reminds me a lot of the really uptight principal chick in "School of Rock"... so that was pretty interesting
