Thumbs up WOW

That was simply amazing.

It's been a while since I heard music that gave chills and shivers all over my body.

This is what progressive metal is all about.

To everyone that considers themself a progressive metal fan or musician: check out MistaMarko's band and their songs.

This seriously is of high quality.

What else can I say.. I'm so overwhelmed.
But I'm gonna listen to it again (and again) to perhaps give some constructive critisism. (Although I don't think they need it.)

A big bravo.

And thank you for sharing your band work and creations.

PS: I'm gonna get back to you with some more reconsidered opinions.

It works for me if you make the "T" into a "t". And I thought that the internets didn't care about case!

Pretty good stuff! Love the bass tone on Momentum

You guys deserve a big compliment from me. And I was not just being nice for the record.
If I review something I will always be honest, and point out negative element in order to give constructive critisism.
(Always in a polite and respectful way.)

Your music might not be appreciated by everyone, but for every kind of music there is a right audience.
This is the right music for me.

I don't know if you checked your PM box, but I sent you one about your band's songs.

I'll post it here in public, just to show how impressed I was.

(PM from me to MistaMarko)

Hi,

Your material is so good that I needed to PM about it. (I also replied in the thread so it perhaps may encourage others.)

I'm honestly impressed. It's been a while since I heard music, or progressive metal, that made the hair on my arms stand up.

Sorry I can't give a more precise review on each song at the moment. Music of this caliber may not be judged so quickly and easily.
It wouldn't be right after all the hard effort and long work you and your band put into making this song.

But I'm gonna listen to the songs again and give some feedback after I put some more thought into it.
(You may also give me pointers to listen to; example: something you are not satisfied with, or something you are proud of.... general idea on sounds, specific parts in a song.)

Are these the only songs your band has?
If you guys ever make it bigtime (srry, perhaps you are on your way), I definatly want to buy the album.
Providing future songs are this great.
(Or see a live gig if you ever tour in Europe.)

There are probably a ton of questions I want to ask you. About progressive music, bass playing, general ideas about music...
But I can't form them right now.

I really respect your skill.
And tell your whole band that I liked each musician.
You guys seem to be a perfect quartet, all at the same high level.

greetings

(btw: perhaps I'm gonna take some time reviewing each song individually if it will help you)

Thumbs up my thoughts on Inertia

Intro: first 6 seconds a bit too harsh, the way the guitar and bass appear a few times is a bit over the top.
Would've been cooler if the guitar and bass sustained their sound a bit (very very picky comment).

After that okay and a progressivemetal fan gets settled right in.

The sound of the bass: the notes are played with a very nice fast attack and the decay sounds a bit overdriven.
This is a not so noticable detail, but I liked it.
(Correct me if I'm wrong each time.)

at 00:17
Lovely synthesizer lead: it was subtle by not using those endlessly ambient effects (like many keyboardplayers are guilty of) and the overall sound was tight and present on the treble side, but also midrange presence to make it sound nicely in the mix. Yet sharp enough and totally metal.
Then when the keyboard plays the riff in a higher octave it gives that feeling of "hold on tight, we're in for a serious melodic instrumental song."

00:38
The bass and the synthesizer (now with the very cool sound in the lower register) groove nicely togheter. I might even call the sound of the groove 'warm' relativly for metal.
This is a good stage for when the guitar leads comes in with his dirty tone. Really, I would describe his sound dirty, but in a good way, adds nicely to the contrast of his lead at the moment. Instead of overly distorted and trebly guitar that wants to cut down a rainforest all by himself.
Did he (guitarist) used a little delay and/or reverb?
If he did I think that was an effect that dirty up his
sound. (again: dirty in a good way)
(Sorry, I am not a good analyst, more a music lover in a
poetic way.)

I'll skip commenting the part after the guitar lead, I feel
it was just transistion to the next bit.

01:26
Geezzz, what a beautiful synth interlude(?)
...getting carried away by it... just fantastic.
And the backup from the guitar (srry, bass not heard very well in the mix here) adds more beauty to it all with that slow whaling of sorta powerchords without abusing too much low end. Is that fuzz he uses?

02:09
I didn't like the very short synth solo here. The notes clashed too much with each other.

02:16
I love your bass sound here. Not too punchy.
And this shows you're a technical bass player, the vibrato effect gives it away.
Bass and guitar seem to conversate with the same riff.
Simple but not bad.

02:28
These guitar riffs seem a bit too dull (remember: I being very picky to give some sort negative comment).
A bit more decorations in this riff would've enhanced this
and some more drive (overdrive or distortion, not fuzz),
it could do with a bit more heaviness. My humble opinion.

Not much going on untille the guitar makes a little break at 03:15.

03:30 to 03:58
Sorry, I didn't like the guitar lead. A bit to messy I think.
The guitarist could've gone more melodic and heavier in this bit. That would make an interesting contrast for what is to come next...

03:58
Oh, from here on starts a beautiful piece. WOW
The softer part of the song.
Mellow but very strong bassline, very great.
The piano sounds from the keyboard is something that always wins me over. Great playing from the kb-player.
And the guitarists shows his technical talents here with a bit of toccata-style playing. I take my hat off for him.
So these three things combined: sublime.
04:42: nice fading out with the piano.

04:45
The intro bit again.
This time the guitar joins the keyboards riff.
This I find a good texture, better then the actual intro.
04:58
The bass, very good what you do there.
It felt a bit like showing off.

05:05
Very beautiful up-tempo part.
Synth and bass work well togheter. And I love the way the guitar makes a short scream with a fill.
05:15 I don't know what this is, I assume it was the guitar.
This made the hair on my arms stand up.

05:27 to 05:37
I just love the more classic sound of the synthesizer here.
The KB-player knows in what register he must stay to contribute to the song in general. Amazing melodies he plays in this bit.

After this to the ending there wasn't anything that moved me.
I didn't liked the actual ending: it felt a bit too bluesy to me.

____________________________________

Overall: I liked it very much.
Remember: my opinions are just what they are: opinions.
It is your guys creation after all.

About drums I couldn't comment on, I'm not qualified for that.
(Unless I notice something obvious terribly wrong or very great.)

I hope you liked my feedback.
If you want I'll review other sons as soon as possible, when I have the time.

You guys definatly have a fan in Belgium.
I'm looking forward to your band's progress.

When I have the time I'll do the other songs. I think I liked Inertia the least.
So your gonna get more praises from now on.

I can tell that you are all experience musician, that respect each other, otherwise you couldn't have put something like this togheter.

And remember: I'm no authority on progressive metal, just a fan of progressive.

Glad you liked it.

I don't if this is a good or bad thing, but I felt like I was listening to Dream Theater in the late 90's.
