Hey this is my band, eclyptic. We just finished our cd. We're still in Highschool. This CD we tried to be a little bit more ourselves. Black velvet dress is one of 1st songs. But the other 2 are new from the cd. In your mind is funkier. Flower Child is more of a... Bo Didley beat (wish i knew how to play the afrocuban beats when we recorded that!). Anyway- please let me know what you guys think of the songs, or if you want to hear more, or if you hate it (but if you hate it, atleast say why).
And last of all- how is my playing? I really went basic for my rig.
American Precision Deleuxe (P + Double J) --> Alesis Compressor --> Radial JDI --> Gallien Krueger 800RBII --> Korg DTR2 --> Fur man Power conditioner.
I didn't use the p on all- but for most... Let me know what you guys think, and any suggestions as the guys want to get RIGHT back into it (record/play shows alot).
If you want more PM me www.myspace.com/eclyptic
Have fun,
Dan
EDIT: I just added 2 new songs- give 'em a listen if you'd like!
Rides again, a James Gang meets James Brown type thing with a not so well recorded horn part and not so well played slap/pop line. And Life and Death a Neil Young inspired tune with just a tad bit of Rush thrown in.
Thanks some more
Dan

I guess we're decent for HS'ers, but thats not really what were going for. We're going for good as musicians... dunno if thats going so well.

Kind of has a Grand Funk Railroad feel. Sludge funk. But Black Velvet Dress is my favorite. Straightforward not complicated. You don't need to bust out the fancy grooves to prove you can hold it down. Very mature for HS kids. Good job. Makes me jealous. You're tone is fine. I would almost dirty it up a tad, but that's just me. Still jealous. |

And thanks for the Flower Girl compliments. I just recently figured out that its some random afro-cuban Beat, and if any cuban heard that song they would most likely kill me since I didn't do it right. But when we play that song (we jam to it at bar shows, late at night) I'll whip out the afrocuban part for fun.
Thanks
Dan

But if I really wanted to I could harshen up the mids, but then I loose the tone I like (mellower and softer I guess?). But thats going to be my next investment, a good Tube head (hopefully an Eden!). But me being 16, it's going to be hard raise that on a minimum wage salary (yay for lifeguarding!). But you can look for a dirtier tone on our next album!
