My 'band' recordings

A friend and I got together last summer and we decided to just write a song for fun, and it turned out that we really liked what we did, so we made a habit of meeting up every so often to write and record a song.

It's mostly fun music, with some digital elements as well as real instruments involved.

We just finished another song tonight, called "Sparkleshines." That's recorded with my custom Stambaugh. All of the others are recorded on my Ibanez SR506.

I'd love to hear some feedback from everyone here.

Myspace is unkind to the audio quality of songs, so please keep that in mind. The bass really is normally a lot more noticeable.

I listened to "Sparkleshines" with my Bose headphones, so the bass sound was pretty clear. The drums seemed to be buried most of the time, though, which made the rhythm seem kinda odd.

Also, the structure seems a little weird - more like a sampler of different ideas than a thematically coherent song. Of course that's based on my idea of what makes a song, YMMV.

The part from about 1:15 to 1:50 is absolutely fantastic. I listened to that part 4 times. Even with the drums buried, that section was wicked impressive.

Definitely going to check out the rest of the songs.

That's funny that you mentioned that drums sounding buried, because the drums were way too high in the mix at first.

Thanks for your comments, though.

Thanks to everyone else, also.
