My band.. In the vein of the melvins, high on fire, motorhead, etc..

My band will be putting up some new material in the following weeks (last night was our first practice). I'm taking the Lemmy approach and playing my bass through an overdriven tube fullstack (we're just drums and bass). There's an intro snippet up from practice and hopefully later tonight I can add some more stuff. The mix is a bit drum heavy since it's a single mic recording, but there's studio time soon Musically we're in the vein of the Melvins, High on Fire, Lightning Bolt, Sabbath w/ female vocals. w0rd.

The band link is in my signature.. For now it's a redirect to myspace

I love the tone. Nice kickin song so far, can't wait to see where it goes and what the vocals are like if there are any.

Thanks I have a female singer actually. I sorta envision heavy, grindy, thick rhythms w/ nice melodic vocals on top. I'm certainly not going for the screamo, emo, grind vocals that ruin so many potentially awesome bands

How can you list Karp as an influence and not know Big Business? Jared from Karp went on to form Big Business, you'll like them a lot.

I dig the music (so far), but... this is me being helpful... maybe consider a different band name?

Haha.. I love the band name because a) I'm rather vain .. and b) people roll their eyes and laugh at it.. Hence remembering it Our flyers will have us looking like a vintage throwback band in b&w.

... alright, but honestly, the "Blank and the Blanktones" is so overdone at this point, I would be hesitant to check out a band with that name. Luckily, the "melvins, high on fire, motorhead" part caught my attention.

But I'm just some random online guy, if you love it, cool. Look forward to hearing more, sounds like it has a lot of potential.

Yeah, while still wanting to make quality music and play awesome shows, we aren't in it for the money. We're in it to have fun and not take things overly seriously. So if people don't listen to us becuase they think the band name is silly, oh well. It was the drummer who came up w/ the name anyway.. haha..

Regardless, I put up a full version of the first song. It's getting vocals later this week, but the overall structure is set.
