My bands demo

Sign in to disble this ad
We made an inexpensive demo. The mixing did not go down as we had wished but we paid so little for this recording that we are happy that we sounded like this with little mixing and fixing.

I would love any thoughts

myspace.com/thegreatdebateband

I recorded direct using a Reverend 4 string jazz that you see in my avatar.

thanks

1. I like it

2. the quality is fine

3. You are a good bassist.

4. What the **** is with the crappy black ink spots all over the text parts of the myspace page? REMOVE THEM. You should be thankful that someone was interested enough to read your bands bio info, but since it was a chore to read around the blotches of ink, I gave up and stopped reading halfway through.

Music was enjoyable though.

Tom, it is a free myspace layout. I have no idea how to get rid of them, and it was the best one I saw. Blah. I know. I need to get a new one.

Thank you for the compliments and review.

I like how you start every song. Did you write the music?

Anyway, sounds great for what you said about it. Your lines are smooth too.
Good work, keep it up.

Tom, I changed the layout. Should please you.

Bass, I did not write the music. I assisted in writing the music. Of course I wrote all of the bass lines except the beginning to It's 8:47 which was the lead guitarists riff.

I did write much of "Swell"

Thank you.

I complain about their tone every day. The lead guitarist and singer used an old Gibson solid state amp he got for free. sigh.

The other guitarist used a Line 6 amp with roland guitar effects piece. Blah.

checked out the new layout dan, looks good. Might not be as "stylized" as the old layout, but it is much more readable, which is the point. You do want people to read the page right? :P

The color scheme matches the frog riding the bike as well. haha

Love the bass and drums on your stuff. One of the guitarist has kind of a bleck tone I think, IMO. In a couple of spots he seems to kind of stutter before the change too. Kind of detracts from the good flow you and the drummer have going. Just my opinion. Other than that everything is great. Small nitpicky stuff.

MakiSupastar,
I'm aware of it, too. I hope he is. Not exactly sure how to say it during a practice or to him. If he has ears, he hears it.

Dan - I really likes the second two cuts. I agree with the comments of previous posters regarding the bass and drums. Nice work there. I wasn't real crazy about the vocals. Perhaps they vocal track is just a little dry for his voice. Something to give it some depth would help to my ear - it just sounds kind of one dimensional.

Overall good job I would say!

I am really humbled with all of the comments about the bass and drums sound. JB and I are good friends and we connect well.

Steven never really felt comfortable with vocals and sadly none of us give him any backup. But we supported him to continue on and he got better. He should improve. The mixing was not that great and I told them to add some reverb to his vocals to give it some depth. They didn't OH well. We plan to record 4 more and get all eight tracks and send them somewhere for a tight mixing.

We want to gig in Charlotte. You have connections?

Swell is "my song"

I basically came to the band with the bass chords that I start it with, singer-guitarist added the e7 to wrap it all together and it swelled to that.

What I like about it is it is the same chord progression through the whole song, but you cannot really tell because it explodes. Plus, steven never played a solo in it, and he did that in the studio and we were all really happy with that. I think his solo is great.
