My band's EP is finished - thoughts?

Hi gang.

I am the bassist for Vertigo Jones (www.vertigojones.com). We just finished a four-song EP (which I also produced and played some keys on). I used a Rickenbacker 4003, a Music Man Sterling, and an Epiphone Viola into, variously, a SansAmp, a Peavey ProBass 1000 pre-amp, and a Bass Pod.

The full EP is available for listen here:
www.myspace.com/vertigojones

Thoughts appreciated!

That vocalist is somewhat iffy for me...

It's really good, especially the last song. And +1 on the good bass lines!

I love your vintage like tone on the first tune. It has a U2 vibe to it. "The Weather Don't Know" is my fave. I'd buy that.

I love the thumpy bass of the first song-

The vocals are different, really pitchy, but like that he is being different although a bit Bono/Frans Ferdinan like.

The vocals are really out of key in the second song to me, really makes the song unlistenable. Axe that song as one listen is going to turn people away who can hear correct pitch. Your only as good as your worst song.

I think the singer has a nice unique voice but somebody has to change pitch to match. The last song is nice except out of pitch once again. He is really out of key here, at least to my ears?

You guys can't hear this?

Everything else is pretty good-

Thanks for the listen, guys. We're working with the vocalist and he's much improved but we've still got some work to do. He actually sing a lot better live - maybe when the studio lite goes on he gets the nerves?

Anyways thanks for listening again... and thanks for the comments on the bass playing. (That's me!)
