It took a while, but we finally finished our 5 song EP and released it at our show Saturday night. Check out Spookhand's "Rock n' Roll Zombie Party" http://spookhand.dmusic.com

| | | | Not my cup of tea, but seems good. I just can't get into the singer or the way he is recorded, maybe you were going for a garage feel, but it does not appeal to me. At least he sings in key. Vader came off kind of gimmicky and was hoping for more.
Just my opinion |

There's a little too much reverb on them in my opinion, but that was the sound our singer wanted. Kind of that garage-y feel. I'm thinking of doing another mix and bringing it down just a bit. Thanks for the feedback.
Songs are meant to be cheesy, we're a horror punk band!

Otherwise, the music grooves and is enjoyable, I'm just too distracted with the vocal reverb to ignore it and enjoy anything beyond that, sorry. The Vader song was pretty funny.
Let us know when you get another mix up!

| I imagine you guys are better as a live show?
The music on its own kind of straddles the fence of serious - cheese / garage . If you're going for cheese I say make it extra cheesy. |

It's hard to capture the energy recording one instrument at a time. Live, we throw in a bit of theater as well. Our last show, our singer ripped an "audience member's" arm off.
I guess the fence straddling is the two sides of the band. Our singer writes most of the lyrics (only one of the 5 posted I wrote was Rock n' Roll Zombie), but I write most of the music (I wrote all 5 except Murder Motel). Are you saying make the music/performance more cheesy? Or the lyrics?

Helps capture the energy of a live performance to track everything all at once and then only overdub that which needs fixing or changing.
I'm not sure what your budget or your equipment is, but we record with a MOTU 24io, 24 channels available into a Mac with Logic Studio 8. Every instrument, vocal and drum, and even a pair of stereo overhead mics are recorded; drummer plays to a click track that helps keep us all on time and locked in the groove. Took a while to get the hang of it but the results are worth it IMHO.

This release started out because we fired our drummer and hadn't found a new one yet, so we couldn't practice. We just got together and started recording a few things. Then we had a big show coming up, so we wanted to have an EP to give away at the show, so we finished it.
