My band's finally got some songs up on their myspace page

OK, we had to do something for the page so we recorded a rehearsal with no vocals since we still don't have a steady vocalist yet. We took what we recorded and did a quick clean up on it to make it listenable. I was asked by some of you to let you know when we had some songs up so here it is.

Let me know what you think of it. It's not perfect, we know that, but let us know what you think of the music. Is it catchy? Is it listenable? Is it good? I just want to know from some other people to get an idea of how we sound to others.

Thank guys. Be nice now. Go easy on me.

Your songs sound nice, but the volume is very low. When I listen to our band's myspace recordings, it's loud enough to hear everything clearly with the volume slide set about half-way up; on your myspace page, I had to dime the volume control and it still wan't loud enough hear hear the quiet passages, and the loud passages were still fairly quiet.

I forgot to mention that the songs on the page are just 2 minute clips of the songs. We write some pretty long songs and both of those songs top the 8 minute mark. There are a lot of changes later on in the songs. These clips are just the first 2 minutes of them.

Yeah, I think if we mess around with the recording levels a little bit we can get it a little louder. I'll tell them that when we get together the next time. Thanks!

Got another song up on there. It's just a clip of a song we're in the process of writing still but it's turning out alright, good enough to put on our page.

BTW, I talked to the guitarist, the one responsible for recording the songs, and he said he's going to do some work on the original recordings to bring the volume level up but he's on vacation starting tomorrow so it may be a week or two to get them fixed.

Ok, besides the volume level, what do you think of the actual music and songs?

Sounds great

Don't take this the wrong way but those three clips sound great as instrumentals. I think lyrics would detract from them.

Really? I might tell that to Dave, the keyboard player. He's the one who insists on those songs having lyrics. I tend to agree with you but I thought I was kind of going against the flow of the band so I didn't say anything. Thanks for listening.
