(Edit: I've put new songs up. This original post was with regards to "The Moons..." song. Later posts will be relative to the song's that they're relative to.)

Hi. My band recently bought a pile of recording equiptment that we're not entirely sure how to use best. We recorded a semi-sloppy rendition of one of our songs last night, and put it up on - you guessed - MySpace, so friends can give their opinions. I figured it couldn't hurt to ask the people here for tips too, on recording technique plus just general impressions of the song itself. So if anyone feels like helping out, you can check the little number here:

Thanks to anyone who listens,
Fum

(BTW, feel free to not read any of our bio. We're all a little slow in the head....)

pretty good but nothing that really "hooked" me in. There were some interesting contrast in styles and I dug your bass!

That's kinda cool to hear. We don't talk about it or really plan on it, but I think all of us, when we write our songs, try to create a sound that's a little different than most of what you hear on the radio. Though, a side effect of this may be, as the first reply touched on, this might lead us away from the catchy riffs and hooks that, you know, make people like the song.

Anyways, thanks guys, and I'd like to get more feedback if I could. Also we're going to get around to recording some of our many other songs soon, so I might bump this topic when we do.

i like the overall feel- there are some solid ideas in there- definitely a unique kind of sound. i guess it just sounds like it meanders in some spots.
the bass tone is real nice.

We've put some new songs up on our page, http://www.myspace.com/teapartieswithdragons . The playing and recording quality is still fairly poor, maybe worse than before, but we just wanted to give people an idea of what we're up to. We plan on going through and recording all our many songs to a much higher standard later.

But none of you really care about that. I'm posting again because I'd appreciate more feedback. I'm especially interested in what you guys think of "Pilfered Pistol," altough feedback on the other song wouldn't be terrible. Just a warning: the ending of PP is supposed to be of a sloppy / grungy old-school rock and roll style, but I think we took that too far in this take, and it could do with plenty of tightening up (less messing up wouldn't hurt, either).

Thanks.
