So this is my bands recordings from our first trip into the studio. Would love to hear feedback from the people that post on the site i spend half my day on!
I suppose our style is symphonic death/black metal with progressive elements. I hate trying to figure out genres.
Anyway here are two tracks we have on our myspace. Hope you enjoy http://www.myspace.com/satevis/ |

Also is there any way you could send me that track? Id love to toss that on the IPOD. Or if you guys are on itunes ill gladly buy it.
ALWAYS good to hear new metal.

I don't know if this is good or bad, but the bass is tonally too close to the guitar for me. It blends well but doesn't really cut. There needs to be a difference in timbre and frequency in order to get separation -- if that's what you want. As is, it sounds like the guitar could have used an octave divider.
Sorry. You obviously can play, but as a bass playing producer, I would have done things differently, that all. |

I might be buying the album once it gets up on iTunes but I've gotta agree with plangent on the lack of tonal separation between the bass and guitar. You've definitely got chops though Quote:

The playing and style is top notch, I too will be buying it.

Definitely agree though that it needs more seperation as in alot of the songs the bass takes a lead role.
Appreciate the input, this all makes going into the studio in future smoother and things to look out for.
Bass was recorded through a REDDI and then re-amped through an Ampeg SB-12. Then the mixing engineer blended the two. I was skeptical about reamping through the Ampeg, but he really sold it, so i trusted his judgment. Do you think this amp being vintage effected the lack of cut? or was it the post eq'ing more so than the amp itself. |

Everything else you hear is the organic drum sound through the mics. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
