My band's new demo's

Sign in to disble this ad
Our first release since we split from our record company a few months ago.

All recorded using a custom 36inch scale Overwater tuned ADGCF into a Radial ProD1 then out into an Alembic F-1X for clean blended with a Catalinbread SFT into an ART MP-1 for dirty

Blend is around 70/30-80/20 in favour of clean

I agree that they arent exactly perfect quality but that is because they are demos is my guess. Unmixed stuff never sounds as good as properly mixed stuff.

I like the new tunes, but I suppose thats down to taste really.

good point about the hair, I had forgotten that hair is easily 70% of a bands sound. Where would ZZ Top have been without those beards, nowhere thats where.

I still need to listen to these with good headphones or better speakers, the bass is a little too low in the mix to make out with my iPod headphones, or this could be something to do with myspaces compression I don't know.

Sounds great Steve! "Touched By Grace" could definitely fit on the local pop radio around here... I think it's my fav of the 3. I still dislike your lead guitarist's tone... but it is more tolerable on Touched than the other 2. It doesn't sound bad, just needs some warming and loosening. What kinda amp is he using? Is he recording with that Acrylic Shredder he's pictured with?

I listened the other day on some good Phillips in ears and dug the depth and tone of your bass... listening again here at home on my 2.1 setup I feel the same. I can see how you might disappear on less than acceptable speakers (laptops and lesser earbuds). It's an art to mix good bass that fulls a good system yet exists in a bad one.

As I mentioned in our IMs, the writing seems to be maturing. I like it.

Is that due to the lack of crack used in the recording process

This is far from my favorite style of music (it's certainly good for what it is, though, just not my cup of coffee)...

But something tells me that if Miles were still alive, he'd be blasting his trumpet over stuff not too different from this... he was always experimenting w. what ever music was "hot" at the moment. Did we simply forget his hip-hop record: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_9cUzqExTM ??
