We're a Symphonic Metal band and we've just record a rough demo, vocals still need to be added and theres a few mixing issues but other than that this is the final product.

Theres a bass solo about 3/4 of the way through so Im sure that'll get a few more of you listening

We'd appreciate comments and crits.

Not really my kind of music!

Liked it, and do think it really needs vocals, as the piano gets repetitive quickly.

I'd love to listen to a version with vocals!

Sounds a little like the trans siberian orchestra. The intro could be shortened up.

1-I didn't think the intro was too long. It's your song and you can make it as long as you wish. Seems like it was really building towards something. Very tasteful.

2-Congrats on putting up something original instead of a cover.

3-I like the keys

4-I wish the song was a bit longer. Actually the entire song sounded like an 'intro'. I was waiting for the song to actually begin when it ended.

5-Sounded like the tone of the bass was missing something. Maybe it just wasn't full sounding. This could simply be an effects issue. I wish the basss was a bit warmer. Again, this is a tone issue involving amp or effects. Not sure which. Maybe this is will work itself out in the final mix. Does anyone else agree with this? Maybe it's just me?

6-I don't know about symphonic metal. Sounded progressive to me, especially if you add vocals.

Good job though. I actually like the song. Would love to hear more. Really liked it alot!!!!!

the piano riff needs a tad of variation, its an A/B form now, try an A/B A'/B' bouncing E harm minor to A harm minor, try a few other notes out of the respective scales for the 2nd piano parts

the drums are under mixed and you have some low end muddiness happening

I would mix around the kit and try a little panning to get some separation
then look to the thick eq zone to trim out the woof (100-250K) this can be done individually on the bass & keys

dont hold back, the whole song felt like and intro for a song that never came, I liked your intro bass riff about a minute in

Piano is repetitive and I heard no bass solo. But I liked it.

Sounded like a theme song to a horror movie. Sounded nothing like trans siberian orchestra.

not bad, Bass sounds hollow and drums should be louder but I like it.

1, I guess you're one of the few, I think the intro could do with shortening down abit.

We actually made it longer for the demo, the live version isnt so long, we knock about 8 bars off.

4, I somewhat agree with this, the song seems to really get going in the last few minutes and then ends.

This is the only song of ours that does this, the rest kick in within the first minute.

5, Its a mixture of Eqing/Mix and the fact that my bass/amp arnt anything spectacular.

6, Yeah theres definatley some prog in there.

Thanks for the comments, hopefully the vocals will be up within the next week aswell as some more recordings.

Thanks for the comments.
Like I said, this is a rough demo and I'll try to fix all the issues you said in the final mix.

I agree with everyone about the piano, more needs to happen with that.
The song is only a demo though, so we'll keep working at it, all your comments are appreciated and help us out in the long run

Thanks to everyone thats listened and/or commented

I like the tension it builds - it would be an excellent opening number as everyone walks onstage at the beginning of a show, followed by a seriously fast tune.

Add something near the end where you guys play really fast. get some action going to kinda form a climax to the song. Then end with a slow keys solo. Listen to the end of the song 'Stream of Consciousness' by Dream Theater(Train of Thought album). There is a sorta acoustic sounding ending with the guitar. Do something like that but use keys instead.

The way people keep saying the whole song sounds like an intro, I dont know exactly what your range is but this would be a sweet song to play into a speed metal song (similar to Metallica's Fight Fire with Fire, this is what I thought should have came next).

The bass solo sounds like you're the only clean instrument in the mix, to me I think it would have sounded sweet with a synth or heavy fuzz or distortion. Just my opinion.

We have quite a few fast songs that could follow this live or on a cd.

Im not sure about using fuzz for the solo, I could try it out I guess, I tend to play the synth solo live with fuzz (because theres too many keyboard parts for 1 keyboardist to play at once) and I think it'd be nice to have to some separation of the two solos, have the original bass solo clean the keyboard solo with fuzz.

Thats just my opinion though, I could always try it and see how it goes.

Thanks for listening
