My bands recordings, feedback please!

So last time I posted here I had one recording that wasn't great.

Today, I have 4 new recordings (one is the old song but with better vocals and 3 others).

Check out the Penguin on the Wall and the Reggae song if you are pressed for time. If not then listen to all of them!

Thanks,
Alex

ps. Constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated

pps. I'm not sure why I got no responses for my last thread maybe people didn't understand that it was the band I'm in or something. If that's not the case then someone please delete this one or I will.

Sounds quite cool to me. The sound quality sucks on the recordings but I think you're grooving quite nicely. The rapping sounds perhaps a bit monotone sometimes, but you can at least hear the words well. That's often not the case with rapping, glad to hear someone who is different.

If you were a band in my town, I'd definitely go and check you out.

Hey dude I like that and is actually a style that i have been interested in putting together for some time. Jazz/rap/groove type stuff. Glad to see it can be a crowd pleaser and manages to be entertaining to musicians and non alike. I agree that the lyricist isn't on par with the rest of the band, i'd prefer a smoother delivery and less monotone to compliment the excellent musicianship. Other than that you guys sounded really really great, I'd definitely come and see you all jam.

I got very few replies from mine as well, as far as your tracks I don't think I could give a fair review since I don't like any raping at all. I will offer this IMO I think it is better to put up studio versions vs live on Myspace sounds better and looks more pro, keep it up!

Music sounds pretty awesome. I couldn't hear the bass as well as I would have like for a more in-depth critique. Sounded dope though.

I'm not crazy on the lead vox. Smoother would appeal to me more...less cocky (so-to-speak).

im not such a fan of the whole hip hop thing

but instrumentally u guys were pretty tight. turn up ur amp tho it was kinda hard to hear u playing

mmm but that sax was downright delicious. u got one hell of a saxophonist. didnt do anything too flashy but still made a solid groove which u can really dance too

ps these recordings are from a video camera microphone so obviously the bass is not going to be heard as loud as it actually was. I think I could have been a little louder though.

Pretty similar to the stuff we've been doin for the past thirteen years. Maybe you could come down to minneapolis and do a show with us. We're actually gonna be hangin it up soon but I'm sure we could get somethin done. Just wait till I get back to sota. I'm in arkansas right now. www.myspace.com/leroysmokes
