My band's second music vid. Thoughts?

Hey guys! I wanted to post my bands second music video and see what you guys thought. It took us a while to film and I'm actually happy with it but I love to hear feedback, be it positive or negative. Thanks so much!

If i am honest, not a mega fan...

The whole "i walk around with a screw driver in my pocket and fix a broken Rhodes in 2 seconds pretending to tighten a screw" almost lost me! The whole 80's split screen thing was just to much.

The playing in a field of flowers is very very very to cheesy .

And why is your drummer dressed a sailor? Also none of his playing is in sync with the video!

Also leaving the tripod in the shot around the 2min mark makes it look very amateurish.

Sorry to be so blunt. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but my honest opinion.

Video is okayish... guitar player needs to practice with a metronome or something. That attempted lick at ~1:45 made me cringe.

Tempos are definitely an issue, especially on gtr. There wasn't a section of the song that didn't have tempo issues. the mix could be improved as well. I think the vocal was way too hot in the mix. The guitar should also back up a bit in some sections. As far as the video goes, I agree about the tripod. The intro is also waaaay too long. If I wasn't watching to make these comments for a fellow TBer, I'd have switched it off way before the music started. Hope you all take this to heart. I mean all of this constructively, btw.

Everything about that just sucks. I mean it took forever to start, the lyrics don't go with the music, the guitarist is soloing over the whole thing with what might I say horrible tone and the tempo is all out of whack. And the chorus?? What is that?!

Not trying to be mean but you wanted an honest opinion...

Let's try to keep things on the video, the OP never asked to critique the music!

that's a completely different mater...

How did he even know the Rhodes needed adjusting? He just walked up to it, amiright?

I don't like the piano players shoes, or the other costumes. Why did you take so long to start playing music? The guy in the orange shirt looks way too pissed off. I found myself being mad too wondering what he was so pissed off about.

The production quality was good I thought. The best part for me was all of you guys together in one shot jamming towards the end, with the orange haze on it. Not sure why it was orange though?

The tripod in the back of the shot when the singer walks away from the Rhodes amused me.

I guess the question is did you have fun doing this? If the answer is yes then keep on doing what you do.

Your guitarist needs to work on his tone though and phrasing.

I think there are good things and bad things here:

The Good:
- You guys seem really really young... for how young I assume you are, this is pretty high quality... the video especially. So that's great!
- You guys have some style, visually... there's a lot to look at - with your green strings and your guitar players Moxie shirt (I think I need one of those now - I love Moxie!) Having a look is a very very good thing.
- Your singer's got some talent and potential there... a hard thing to find, IME.
- The cinematography/production value was very good.

The Bad:
- First, I should state that this is so not anything I would personally listen to intentionally... just not my kind of music... so I can't really judge there so much except to say that I think this kind of music will sound dated in just a few years... but what the hell do I know.
- In order to have a really good video, the recording has to be good - before anything else... time was all over the place in the recording. If there's no groove, no tightness, there's no music, IMO.
- As everyone else noted, the song takes way too long to start... I know that Michael Jackson did this in Thriller and that's considered possibly the greatest music video of all time - but you guys certainly are not Michael Jackson... none of us are... it just comes across as needless and pretentious.

The Ugly:
- Gary Busey

In Sum:
Is this great? No. Is it awful? I don't think so. My advice: stay together... rehearse a ton and you'll all grow as musicians together, and, I think, if you keep it going, in a few years you guys could be a really good band - I'm just not sold that you're there yet - I'm really sorry - but that's my opinion. Again, you guys seem really young... so you have your entire lives ahead of you, and I think if you all keep at it, there'll be good things in the future.

But keep at it!!! I hope this helps.
