This is me playing a little exercise i like to do. I made it my self and it was the first thing I ever made on bass so it's not the best but i think it has a catchy tune hehe.

Good tip for you. Im sure, positive you have been taught the finger per fret technique but when playing octaves its much easier to use your index and pinky to span the three frets. Instead of playing the 1st and 3rd frets with your index and ring, use your index and pinky. Just my $0.02.

I like using my ring for octaves. Never had a problem with it. I also like the option of having the b9 available to my pinky.

And thats your opinion, but not what I stated. He is not playing the B9, only the octave. For the octave its mroe comnfortable and less straining on your hands to play this way.

I agree with this as well! Someone on here had me try out using the pinky and then it just became habit, but I kind've miss my old way of doing octaves with the ring finger...

Seriously though, if you develop the technique that way, why not? It'll build stronger hands and allow for more stretching in the future!
