A Dream/Nightmare mix of "I've got you (I feel good)"

Hardly an original concept, sampling James Brown, the man had such a powerful voice and amazing band... it's hard to resist. Rest in Peace, to the hardest working man in show business. He had some rough times in his life, but he will be remebered for his music before his personal life. His music was so pure, and no one can deny that. He was a huge inspiration to my funk days (which I still hang onto from time to time), I wish I could have met him, he will be missed.

Haha, Dark Ambient James Brown! Well, that's original, not what I expected

...But I think The Man will be turning in his grave! Make it Funky!

I slowed the horn break to "I got you" way way way down, cranked distortion/reverb on it. Then I soloed out James' voice after that break when he says, "When I hold you, in my arms." Slowed that way down but preserved the pitch... gave his vocals the same distortion/reverb treatment. It's all loops.

So there is a strange ambient drone (that was a mic in the middle of the room, me slamming on stuff/generating feedback/slamming an accoustic guitar... etc, a 10 second loop of all the noise in a room). Then the drums/horn comes in, and the evil evil screaming in the distance is James, slowed waaaaay down.

If James rolled over in his grave every time he was sampled in a manner unbefitting a man of his talent, he'd be doing 360s until next christmas. Unfortunatly, I've lost the funk, now I'm just a weirdo.

Thanks for the listens.

While the media may focus on negative aspects of his personal life, it can't be denied he started from humble beginnings, to put it mildly: Everything in his environment said he was born to loose. For his vocation, he choose the most difficult endevour to succeed in: the music business. His success was due to his genius as artist, his savvy business acumen, and plain old hard work! This is how I remember his personal life.

Totally, James impact on music is undeniable, and hopefully that's what people think of him. But a lot of people care about musicians like celebrities and their personal lives overshadow the music. Like Michael Jackson... thriller changed pop music (for better or worse) and when you mention his name, people think of him being crazy.

Luckily James' life was more sane than that, but he had some rough patches, and some things about him really bothered me (obviously), but his music is amazing. And his drummer invented hip hop, seriously. Some might not think that's a good thing, but I think it's an amazing thing.
