So my band recently finished recording a few songs in the studio. This is the first group I've been in that has had me take solos (which took a little getting used to) and this is the first one I've gotten recorded like this.
It's still a rough mix, but I think it sounds pretty good.
Let me know what you think and if you have any feedback or suggestions! I may still have time to re-track a bit. Solo is around 4:45 (I know... long song! )
Thanks! http://divshare.com/download/11655112-be6

| | | | Your part makes the song sound better. But I guess you need more parts to solo in a such piece... |

I'm really digging your tone. Which bass did you record that with? Direct? |

It was recorded direct with my "Squierowsky"... a Squier DAJV modded with a Sadowsky preamp and Dimarzio Ultra Jazz pickups.
Here's a pic of it with my other cheapo-upgraded basses:

I would warm up that keyboard a little and beef up the low end on your bass and kick drum a bit in the final mix. You really want your bass and the kick to make the bottom end much bigger.
Well done! |

I agree about it needing a little bit more kick drum. |

Putting on my producing/engineering hat, I would take the horns down a bit during the bass solo.
Overall, I'd lower the keys (a LOT) and yes, add more kick drum. And shorten it. : ) |
