thanks for the compliments nfs. i've been listening to a lot of stu hamm and john myungs tapping for background on a good tapping sound, and now that i listen to it i think the first and last part do sound very "hammy" (

) whereas the middle part sounds a lot like something john myung would write (download solar groove or freeport jam for some of his solo stuff)
as for equipment:
fender mim jazz bass
korg toneworks multieffects pedal (i was using a light chourus on that clip)
fender bassman 60 watt amp (i ran from the tuner out to the sound card in on my pc)
as far as getting the tapping loud enough, i would say it just takes time, im just now getting where i can get good volume when i tap, but as you can tell im not very accurate with it so my notes arent as clean as they should be. anyways, hope that helps, and thanks again for the compliment.
oh btw: i forgot, i've heard using compression helps with tapping, i havent tried this yet so im not sure, you might want to look into it.
