THEREDAIRPLANES

The Red Airplanes is the best local band I've heard in a long time.
They play great Christian Rock music. Check it out.

I'm really good friends with their bassist, and I'm trying to get the word across.

So enjoy and support them!

These guys are amazing!
Show your support by buying their music and going to their shows!

a well produced sound but religious overtones in music is a major limitation.

For this forum, which is catering to lower and lower standards of musicianship, its one of the better recorded and mixed efforts. Muscially though, its well in the bubble gum dept. which kind of negates the recording effort, whats the point?
Write something challenging for turnips sake.

are you theologists or musicians?

great music is universal

once you attach a prophet to your music you have created polarization

thats not cool... ever

Good point, although great music can also be universal even when it has religious overtones-Take the album "What's Going on" by Marvin Gaye for example. It's widely regarded as one of the most influential albums ever and it's loaded with lyrics that reveal Gaye's faith in god. It's also one of my favorite albums ever...and I'm an atheist. It's the sincerity of the music that moves me personally, not to mention the performances are brilliantly pulled off! But on the other hand, christian "rock" doesn't make sense to me at all. I generally find it just a bunch of bland, generic praising of god. Anyway, not being argumentative with ya lambro, just throwing my perspective in

Sort of Snow Patrol meets Switchfoot, sounds good overall. But, as much as I hate to agree with the lambro, those lyrics are probably way too "I LOVE JESUS SO SHOULD YOU" for any casual non-christian listener. No room for interpretation, no metaphor, just "HEY HERE'S ANOTHER SONG ABOUT HOW MUCH I LOVE JESUS!"

Maybe I'm nuts here, I don't know. Is it possible that they are trying to directly say how much they love Jesus? I mean, interpretation and metaphor are great and all but why is it wrong to say exactly what you want to say? I don't think that a lot of Christian bands are shooting for major crossover success anyway.
