My (fusion) band's Best of 2010

I recorded all the rehearsals with my Zoom H2. These are the best of the lot. You always feel like you could have done better, but when all is said and done I'm actually pretty happy with these - so here they are. I don't know how I ended up playing in basically a 70s fusion band, but it is really fun and has helped me a lot as a player.

Return to Forever - Mating Drive
Lenny White - Wolfbane
Jean-Luc Ponty - Mirage

Larry Coryell - Scotland

got anything y'all wrote yourselves, like, not covers? Or is it impossible to write fusion that's as fresh and unformulaic as the original 70s classics?
btw, nice analog sounds!

BassBrass, sadly I can't listen to the files 'cause I'm at work. However I like to see some JLP on there, I'm a fan of mirage and a lot of other cuts on that Enigmatic Ocean Album.
I'll try and check your recordings out when I have some freetime.
I also have a zoom H2 and am working on getting some better room/live recordings out of it although I have been pleasantly impressed with it's ease and sound quality thus far.

Well - it's jazz, man. This is 90% improvised. And nobody's ever heard of these songs anyway. Seems besides the point to care about who composed them. This isn't exactly Beethoven. Mirage has two chords and no melody. Mating Drive has one chord, and a very brief melody, etc... What matters is how you play it.
