By no means a flea worship thread, but I've really been getting into the chili peppers lately, and this song has such a killer groove.

I'm especially liking the chorus/'soft' part with that wonderful percussiveness. How does one nail that short of selling a kidney for a Wal?

One of my favorite bass lines, I've jammed on that one for years.

I can't comment on copping the exact tone with equipment (not my thing), but as far as feel goes for the softer sections, loosen up and extend the slides as long as possible, even continuing them into the next bar if you can. For the loud parts I dig in like crazy.
