Hey y'all
I've just joined a new 7-piece funk band here in London - Groove Digger - they've been together for a year or so but the line has changed a little - I'm the new guy along with the drummer (great Polish player). Anyway it's the usual mix of stuff like Street Life, I Wish and some JBs style funk - hope you like it - we're about to start gigging soon so that should be fun: http://www.groovedigger.co.uk/
The session was recorded in one day completely live - no overdubs - and after just 2 rehearsals - it came out pretty good I think!
Hope you enjoy it.
Cheers

The only comment I can make that I think could really put you guys over the top would be for your vocalist to really let loose in the chorus of "Street Life" the way Randy Crawford did. I think if she just got "in character" a little more she'd really nail it.
Here's a recent video of Joe Sample & Randy Crawford putting it together again in the studio. Good for some extra insight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZguZw7Wagg
Once again, the band sounded great; I only sent this to potentially help it along even further. |

Excellent bass playing all around! |

Excellent bass playing all around! | Thanks DW - much appreciated - and as ever you can never please all the people all of the time - thanks for the mainly positive responses, all criticisms duly noted and respectfully acknowledged.
Re comments on the vocals Julia did really well considering there was no separate vocal booth - and yes I know how GOOD Randy Crawford is on the original - she is the one and only after all... - I'm just pleased to have an outlet for some funk-shizzle after a bit of time off.
Thanks again guys - it's all good.
