if you think Shostakovich is good to listen to, try performing it. I performed his fourth symphony in my orchestra. talk about some bass lines.

even more so, listen to Mahler as well as Brahms. They have got some tasty lines.

Shostakovich is amazing. His fourth and fifth symphonies are both great, as are his string quartets (some really emotional stuff)
