I am pretty happy with how the tone turned out on this one!

Critiques welcome.

You sound an awful lot like Bill Hicks.

No really though, good tone. I'm getting back into recording again and am looking for a good way to do it. What's your solution?

Well, I play the bass guitar and drums on all my tracks so as far as recording bass goes:

I use a Spector Forte-4, usually clean right into the amp, I use an Ashdown Evo III 900 and Mic it using a Steinberg sound interface.
The mic I use is a Sure SM57 and to record all that, Cubase 5.
On this particular track I dirtied the bass up a little with the MXR m-80 bass DI.

I run all the guitars in the same way as I do the bass, through the same gear like such:

Bass / Guitar > volume pedal > Tuner > Bass envelope filter > Carbon Copy Delay > Micro Flanger > Bass DI > Amp.

I don't use a pick but I am a hard hitter as I've had no amp for the most part and had to slap the hell out of the strings to hear what I am playing...

Oh okay. Not too far off from what I've been doing.

I've been going with whatever bass I play XLR-out the back of my bass amp to a cute little Behringer mixer, line-out to my PC's SB X-fi. Seems to work, but not with guitar -- sounds terrible. I need to mic that up. Next thing on my shopping list?

Microphone. I followed you on SoundCloud, too.

ACE! I triy to sometimes mix the DI straight into the interface...but I like the mic better...

I liked the first part up to mid point but the finish didn't really hit me like the crunchiness of the first part. Nice mixing.

Bass sound great. Complements the the airy and somewhat hollow sound of the mix. I dug the track.

The tone sounds excellent, good job. I would definitely keep those settings in the bank, works nicely. The musical style reminds me a bit of a band my old band did our first tour with.
