ALBERTO RIGONI ANNOUNCES SIGNING TO NIGHTMARE RECORDS

NEW ALBUM "REBIRTH" SLATED FOR RELEASE APRIL, 26th 2011

Italian bass player & composer Alberto Rigoni (TwinSpirits, Solo Artist)
has just signed with Nightmare Records for the release of his new album.

"Rebirth" shows an extreme variety of tunes, some with voice and some instrumental, it's a union of experimental research blended with a solid backbone of melody. Bassists around the world will want to witness his elegant simplicity to bring the bass instrument to the forefront without loosing the rhythem and foundation of the music.

Alberto successfully combines rock-prog-fusion, with hard-rock-ambient creating a blend that suggests a poetic mix that is free from any defined genre yet remains memorable an even catchy.

“Rebirth” features also features well known musicians. Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree, King Krimson) John Macaluso (Ark, TNT, ex - Yngwie Malmsteen), Michael Manring and Yves Carbonne, swedish singer Jonas Erixon (Alicante), guitarist Tommy Ermolli (Twinspirits) and Simone Mularoni (DGM, Empyrios), keyboard players Federico Solazzo (Alexia), Andrea Pavanello (Centrica) , Filippo Lui and Emanuele Casali (DGM, Astra)

Lance King, owner of Nightmare, says: "I'm excited to try something different and branch out into a little different direction with the label and this artist, Alberto has brought together many brilliant musicians on this great album."

Most people are not aware of Alberto's bass playing until now. He is not into bass acrobatics or gymnastics, but his playing is based on groove and melodies.

My first encounter with his music was through a video clip of a tune of his called "BasSex". Interesting title and very interesting clip. But... what got me hooked was the Tune itself.

Very groovy, very melodic, very catchy

So I took interest to find out who that guy was
and if he had other tunes sharing the same sense of melody and groove. I looked for and BOUGHT the CD "Something Different". The CD shows a multi-faceted bass player that is equally able to compose and perform catchy tunes, funky tunes, slow tunes and Rock tunes. His first CD expands over many different music genres and certainly made me listen to it again and again.

Then I found out that he has other projects too which were very appealing to me: Twinspirits, a melodic progressive metal band, where he sits in the bass chair, providing nice rhythms and smart playing. Never too flashy, but always present and on the spot.

The Lady and The Bass is another project he is involved, bringing the vocals forward, yet firmly supporitng Irene Ermioli's vocals with great bass playing (who said that Pop is not fun, yet challenging?)

The new cd has me waiting in anticipation and excitement over the direction he will take, esp considering the genres presented on his first CD as well as The Lady and The Bass music and the Twinspirits CDs, as well as the people contributing in this CD

And to be honest, I am planning to play some of his tunes with my cover band, "BasSex" included

I've just bought this album as an MP3 download, since it was finally released early this morning on amazon.co.uk because I was too impatient to wait for the actual CD to arrive in the post. (It should be here this week)
What a great CD, every track is a refreshing revelation. To say that Michael Manring is one of my favourite solo artists it’s an understatement. Of course I am now a great fan of your playing style too, ever since I have got "Something Different" which is an album I constantly listen back to back in my car, on the iPhone and sometimes at work. Rebirth has really shown what your next obvious stage in your music was going to be. The result is far from a disappointing, to the point where I still can't decide if I actually prefer this or the other as they are both very good.

I really recommend this album to all bass players. There are a plethora of great musicians in this CD each bringing their trademark contribution to a very colourful and captivating masterpiece, showcasing different styles and sounds remeniscent of music from artist of great caliber and popularity.

Music is definitely not dead, and albums like these are the very proof of it.

Well done Alberto great album.

Now THAT'S an all-star cast! Though honestly the cover weirds me out a bit If I see it anywhere I'll pick it up.
