...and i owe him for that. DAMN! This is good stuff. I bought a greatest hits album when I saw it, and this is just awesome, awesome music. I'm gonna need a lot more of this.

Just feel the world should know.

A couple of great compilations to keep moving forward with The Godfather Of Soul are the CD of JB Vol.'s I and II. Check out the links and read the reviews. It'll help to point you in the right direction. Then you can look for Popcorn, Live At The Apollo, etc. IMHO, Funk as we know it today would not exist without James Brown. )=(

This is a must-have...

...and this has James Brown's rhythm section fronted by Maceo (after the boys in the band got fed up with Brown's way of doin' business).

Master musician, dancer, showman, spotter of talent, etc. etc, and he pushed the boundaries of soul and funk for over a decade at least.

The fact that he was the funkiest man alive never hurt, either.

Buying "Foundations of Funk" was one of the greatest things I've done in my short time as a musician. Glad you're finding out about the greatness of the JB.

My favourite single CD compilation of J.B. is In The Jungle Groove. That one is a must-have and features some of Bootsy's best cuts with The Godfather.

Dr. Licks' great book on the Great James Brown Rhythm Sections (with lots of songs charted out - drum parts, bass parts, and guitar parts).
