Myspace promoting recordings

Myspace is the only site I've used to promote my recordings, is it just me or are fewer people using it nowadays? Have any of you come across any other sites that are good for promo?

Bandcamp looks like a great site.

I agree with fewer people using MySpace these days. I set up a Facebook page which is where it looks like everyone is going. Only problem is that you can't post your songs on it but I just linked it to our MySpace. I guess that we're just using Facebook as an advertisement for our MySpace.

Subscribed for interest.....

I concur with the less myspace usage, my group looked into reverbnation for a second, but shortly stopped messing with it.

Sirpug: I think you might be able to put songs on facebook if you set yourself up as a person and not as a band/fan page. I'm not 100%, but I thought I saw it somewhere on fbook.

To be honest I do not like these social network websites... Yes, I know it's a useful marketing tool. But the social networking bit annoys me, for some reason. And don't even let me get started on twitter...

A lot of people went to FB b\c it's easier to connect with people and bands. Unfortunately FB doesn't seem to have an intuitive method of posting music. At least not that I've found or cared to learn.

There are several different applications that do it. I asked many of my musician friends what they use and everyone uses something different.

Seems the best way to promote your music on FB is via YouTube videos of you or your band.

As posted above, on FB, I just post a link to my MySpace with our music on it.

I hear ya foq1978, but *sometimes* it's the only way to communicate/remind people; those sites are basically like checking email and keeping in touch with people. A lot of people that find out about our shows is through viral plugging... I love seeing me a nice looking original flyer, but these are the times we live in.

Never been involved with twitter and I never will! Fin!

I know, Tandrew. And I might even end up using these tools someday.
What's your band MySpace URl by the way?

Take care!
