It seems John Myung has been introduced to the wonders of Ernie Ball (likely by JP) and is sporting a Bongo 5 on the video for DT's new tune. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkF4JD2rO3Q
I think it's nice for the Myung fans that John is now playing a Bongo, personally. The original Yamahas were too heavy and the Bongo is simply an outstanding bass.
Anyway...
EDIT: i DID do a forum search, so if this is old news, sorry! |

Now he's going to a 2 pickup MM. It's going to be interesting to see how the Bongo tone fits in a Prog Metal format. We'll find out soon!

I've got his JM2. Great bass, and not that heavy really. A little quiet to but I did tinker about with action and pus then lost my alan keys |

| | | | He started out using stringray 4s. but he uses bongos in the studio, unless he needs the high c, then he'll use his 6er. Mostly for comfort while recording i suppose. Ive always dreamed about a six string musicman, be it a stingray or bongo. untill then im gonna try and get my hands on his sig yamaha.

So it's "Officially official" (in James LaBrie mangled English ) - it's almost certain that JM has switched over to EB/MM, and not even Sterling Ball knew he'd be doing so. That's called "under the radar". |
